Breadcrumb Ingredients

  • 3 Tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Dip Ingredients

  • 16 ounce jar cocktail onions, drained well
  • 8 ounce block cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 Tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 Tablespoon white granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon horseradish
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon oregano
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ⅛ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley

Instructions

  1. Prepare the onions: Chop the drained cocktail onions into smaller bite-sized pieces and set aside.
  2. Toast the breadcrumbs: In a skillet over medium heat, melt 3 tablespoons of unsalted butter. Add 1 cup panko breadcrumbs along with ½ teaspoon each of onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, black pepper, and ¼ teaspoon salt. Stir continuously until the breadcrumbs turn golden brown, then remove from the skillet and transfer to a bowl.
  3. Mix the dip: Transfer half of the toasted breadcrumbs to a large bowl. Add the softened 8-ounce cream cheese, 1 cup sour cream, ½ cup mayonnaise, 2 tablespoons ketchup, 1 tablespoon sugar, 1 teaspoon horseradish, ½ teaspoon each of onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, oregano, black pepper, ¼ teaspoon salt, ⅛ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional), 1 teaspoon dried parsley, and the chopped onions. Use a hand mixer to thoroughly combine all ingredients until smooth and well blended.
  4. Chill and serve: Transfer the dip to a serving bowl. If not serving immediately, cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate. Just before serving, top the dip with the remaining toasted breadcrumbs and garnish with a little extra dried parsley.

Notes

  • If not serving right away, refrigerate the dip covered to maintain freshness.
