Ingredients

Scale

Salad Ingredients

  • 1 to 2 hearts of romaine lettuce
  • 2 shallots, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons chopped dill
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1 cup crumbled Feta cheese
  • 2 lemons, zested and juiced

Dressing Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red chili pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the lettuce: Chop the romaine lettuce with a sharp knife, place it in your salad spinner or a large bowl, rinse thoroughly, and drain very well. Alternatively, pat it dry with a clean towel to remove excess moisture.
  2. Combine salad ingredients: In a large salad bowl, add the chopped lettuce, thinly sliced shallots, chopped dill, chopped green onions, crumbled feta cheese, and lemon zest.
  3. Make the dressing: In a jar or small bowl, combine the kosher salt, black pepper, lemon juice, and extra virgin olive oil. Shake or whisk until well blended.
  4. Toss the salad: Pour the dressing over the salad ingredients and toss gently to coat everything evenly. Add crushed red chili pepper flakes if you like a bit of heat. Serve immediately and enjoy the fresh flavors.

Notes

  • Use fresh and crisp romaine lettuce for the best texture.
  • Adjust the amount of chili flakes according to your heat preference or omit entirely for a milder salad.
  • This salad is best served immediately to keep the lettuce crisp and prevent it from becoming soggy.
  • For added protein, consider adding grilled chicken or chickpeas.
  • You can swap dill with fresh parsley for a different herbal note.
