Kentucky Cream Pull Candy is a nostalgic Southern treat that’s simple to make and delightfully sweet. This creamy, chewy candy combines rich heavy cream with classic sugar, creating a luscious texture reminiscent of old-fashioned confections. Perfect for homemade gift-giving or a sweet indulgence, this recipe brings back memories with every bite.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Candy

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For Preparation

  • 1 tablespoon butter (for greasing hands and surface)

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: In a saucepan, mix the granulated sugar, heavy cream, light corn syrup, and salt. Stir over medium heat until the sugar dissolves completely.
  2. Cook to Soft Ball Stage: Continue stirring as the mixture comes to a rolling boil. Use a candy thermometer to monitor the temperature and cook until the mixture reaches the soft ball stage, between 234°F and 240°F.
  3. Add Vanilla and Remove from Heat: Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract thoroughly to blend the flavor.
  4. Cool Before Handling: Allow the candy mixture to cool for about 10-15 minutes until it is just safe to handle. Meanwhile, butter your hands and the working surface to prevent sticking.
  5. Knead and Shape: Pour the cooled mixture onto the buttered surface, then knead and stretch the candy repeatedly until it becomes smooth and pliable. Shape it into your desired forms for serving.

Notes

  • Optional: Drizzle finished candy with melted chocolate for an extra layer of indulgence.
  • Store the candy in an airtight container to maintain freshness and prevent it from hardening.
  • Work carefully when handling hot candy to avoid burns.
