Ingredients

Scale

Cookie Dough Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup Peanut Butter
  • 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar (plus additional for rolling)
  • 1/2 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 Egg
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 2 cups All-purpose Flour

Topping Ingredients

  • 1 cup Milk Chocolate Chips
  • 1/4 cup Powdered Sugar (for sprinkling)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: In the mixing bowl of a stand mixer, combine the softened butter, peanut butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Mix until the mixture is creamy and smooth. Add the vanilla extract and egg, blending thoroughly.
  2. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, salt, and baking soda until well combined. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients in the mixer, blending until a smooth dough forms.
  3. Preheat and Prepare Baking Sheet: Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper and preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  4. Form and Bake Cookies: Roll the dough into tablespoon-sized balls. Roll each ball in granulated sugar to coat, then place them evenly spaced on the prepared cookie sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes or until the cookies turn golden brown and start to crack on top.
  5. Flatten Cookies: Remove the cookie sheet from the oven and, while the cookies are still warm, gently press down the center of each cookie with the bottom of a flat glass, creating a slight indentation. Leave the cookies on the sheet for about 5 minutes to set, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  6. Melt Chocolate: Place the milk chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Melt them using 15-second intervals, stirring between each, until the chocolate is smooth and fully melted.
  7. Fill Cookies with Chocolate: Spoon the melted chocolate into the center indentation of each cookie. Allow the cookies to sit at room temperature for about one hour or until the chocolate sets.
  8. Finish and Serve: Once the chocolate has set, lightly dust the cookies with powdered sugar. Serve and enjoy your Muddy Buddy Cookies!

Notes

  • For best results, ensure butter is softened but not melted when starting to mix the dough.
  • You can substitute the milk chocolate chips with dark or white chocolate according to preference.
  • Allow cookies to cool completely before adding chocolate to prevent melting and spreading.
  • Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
  • These cookies can also be chilled briefly after shaping for easier handling before baking.
