Ingredients

Scale

Meat and Rice

  • 1 lb Ground Beef
  • 1 cup Long-Grain White Rice (uncooked)

Seasonings and Oils

  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 4 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 1 teaspoon Onion Powder
  • 1 tablespoon Cajun Seasoning
  • Salt and Pepper (to taste)

Liquids and Cheeses

  • 2 cups Beef Broth
  • 1 cup Cheddar Cheese (shredded)
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan Cheese (grated)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Beef: Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and break it up with a spoon. Cook until browned and fully cooked, seasoning lightly with salt and pepper. Drain off any excess fat if necessary.
  2. Sauté the Garlic: Push the cooked beef to one side of the skillet. Add the minced garlic to the empty space and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to let it burn.
  3. Add Seasonings: Sprinkle in the onion powder and Cajun seasoning, stirring to evenly coat the beef with the spices and garlic.
  4. Add Rice and Broth: Pour in the uncooked rice and beef broth. Stir thoroughly to combine all ingredients and bring the mixture to a gentle boil.
  5. Simmer the Rice: Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 18-20 minutes, or until the rice is tender and most of the liquid is absorbed. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
  6. Incorporate Cheeses: Remove the skillet from heat. Fold in the grated Parmesan and shredded Cheddar cheese, stirring until the sauce becomes thick, creamy, and all cheese melts.
  7. Final Seasoning and Serve: Taste and adjust seasoning with additional salt, pepper, or Cajun seasoning if desired. Serve immediately, garnished with extra cheese or chopped parsley if preferred.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for a leaner protein option.
  • Use low-sodium beef broth to control the salt content.
  • For a spicier kick, add crushed red pepper flakes along with the Cajun seasoning.
  • Leftovers keep well refrigerated for up to 3 days and can be reheated gently on the stovetop or microwave.
