Ingredients

Scale

Sandwich Ingredients

  • 1 box frozen garlic Texas Toast (8 slices)
  • 1 pound sliced deli roast beef
  • 8 slices provolone cheese
  • Dried parsley, for garnish (optional)

Au Jus Ingredients

  • 1 packet au jus gravy mix
  • 3 cups cold water

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven and prepare baking sheet: Preheat your oven to 425°F and line a sheet tray with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure easy cleanup.
  2. Cook the Texas Toast: Place the frozen garlic Texas Toast on the lined baking sheet and bake according to package instructions, usually about 8 minutes, flipping halfway through for even crispness.
  3. Prepare the au jus gravy: While the toast bakes, mix the au jus gravy packet with 3 cups of cold water in a pot, then heat it according to package directions until warm and flavorful.
  4. Warm the roast beef: Add the sliced deli roast beef to the pot with the warm au jus gravy, letting it heat gently until warmed through and infused with the rich gravy flavor.
  5. Assemble the sandwiches: On each piece of cooked Texas Toast, place a half slice of provolone cheese, then top evenly with slices of the warmed roast beef, and finish with the remaining half slice of provolone on top.
  6. Melt the cheese: Return the assembled sandwiches to the oven and bake for 3-5 minutes, or until the provolone cheese is fully melted and bubbly.
  7. Garnish and serve: Remove the sandwiches from the oven, optionally sprinkle dried parsley on top for a touch of color and flavor, and serve immediately with the warm au jus gravy on the side for dipping.

Notes

  • Use good-quality garlic Texas Toast for best flavor and texture.
  • If you prefer a stronger au jus flavor, let the gravy simmer a few minutes longer before heating the roast beef.
  • For an extra melty sandwich, cover loosely with foil while baking the final melt.
  • Leftover au jus can be refrigerated and used within 3 days.
  • Substitute provolone with mozzarella or Swiss cheese if desired.
