Ingredients

Scale

Garlic White Sauce

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced as fine as possible (or 3 teaspoons from a jar)
  • 1¼ cups whole milk
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons plain flour
  • ¼ cup Parmesan, finely shredded
  • ¼ teaspoon sea salt

Pizza Toppings

  • 1 pre-made or homemade pizza dough
  • 2 tablespoons basil, sliced into thin ribbons as garnish
  • ½ teaspoon Italian herb mix
  • 8 ounces freshly grated mozzarella, low-moisture
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil, for brushing
  • ¼ cup extra Parmesan, shredded fresh
  • ½ cup of the Parmesan garlic sauce you made earlier

Instructions

  1. Prepare Garlic White Sauce: Warm the unsalted butter in a small pot over medium heat until fully melted and just starting to bubble. Add the plain flour and stir continuously to form a thick mixture without browning, cooking for about 2 minutes.
  2. Incorporate Milk: Gradually pour in the whole milk while constantly whisking to avoid lumps. Continue stirring until the sauce thickens and begins to bubble gently, roughly 3-5 minutes.
  3. Add Flavorings: Mix in the minced garlic, sea salt, and freshly cracked black pepper, stirring until evenly blended, then fold in the finely shredded Parmesan cheese. Once melted, remove the sauce from heat and set aside to cool.
  4. Preheat Oven & Prep Dough: Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C). Roll out your pizza dough to the desired shape and thickness, then brush the surface lightly with olive oil. Sprinkle the Italian herb mix evenly over the dough.
  5. Assemble Pizza: Spread about ½ cup of the cooled Parmesan garlic sauce evenly over the dough surface. Sprinkle the freshly grated mozzarella over the sauce, followed by an extra ¼ cup of shredded Parmesan for added cheesiness.
  6. Bake Pizza: Place the assembled pizza in the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes. Bake until the cheese is bubbly and has golden brown spots.
  7. Finish and Serve: Remove the pizza from the oven and immediately garnish with the fresh basil ribbons. Slice and serve while warm to enjoy the full flavor and creamy texture.

Notes

  • You can prepare the garlic Parmesan white sauce ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
  • For an extra crispy crust, ensure the oven is fully preheated to the high temperature before baking.
  • Always add fresh basil after baking to maintain its bright color and fresh flavor.
